Programme profile

The BA is a broad degree that provides you with a foundation on which to apply for jobs or postgraduate study in ireland or abroad. This three-year degree programme will allow you to pursue and develop your interest across a broad range of subjects. Doing a BA will help you become a disciplined and creative thinker who can organise your thoughts coherently and critically in writing.

Four subjects are taken in First Arts from the 20 subjects on offer. Students have a maximum period of two weeks subsequent to registration to complete their subject selection. Students are assigned an Academic Adviser for the duration of their academic programme who will help with their subject choice and academic questions. While it is useful to have narrowed down the list of subjects prior to registration, it is not necessary to have finalised subject choice at that time.

In Second Arts, two of the subjects chosen at First Arts are pursued and these two subjects are completed in Final Arts. An advantage of the wide choice available, and of having to take four subjects, is the opportunity to take new subjects and to make interesting combinations of familiar and new subjects
